Which version of board are you using, which version of firmware, where's the firmware from, precompiled hex or compiled from source, any modifications to it?

So lots of stuff other than READY is because you turned all the debugging options on - it's extremely verbose. It's also the case that on the UNO, it'll crash pretty soon with those settings on. I'm even surprised that it compiles with them on. Did you already try it without debugging?

Hey Sandy,
I turned off all the debugging options an re-uploaded the code to the UNO, but the steppers are still not turning. When I try to move the pen to a point the program says it's busy and after a while it says it's done/command executed without having moved.

Strange size movements
I made drawings on big area and not mentioned real size of movements of the gondola until I needed to draw on A4 paper. And then I set page size to 210x297 mm, set frame to this size and clicked "draw outline selected" machine goes almost right 210 mm width. BUT height of outline is ~250 mm instead of 297. Why I have result like that and could it be resolved not with setting different sizes that can be picked up experimental way instead of being real measurements that exactly match A4 or anything else size?
P.S sorry for just complaining here and thanks for help!

Re: Touchscreen not calibrated correctly?
I hate to bring this back but I'm stumped again.
It's still the same issue, running latest firmware. Touching the screen is registered and I can see the same messages on the serial monitor, sometimes a button will register a click but its rare and I'll never be pressing that button but just somewhere on the screen nearby.
I ran the calibration and entered the values into UTouchCD.h, I've also checked I've got the right screen selected #define LCD_TYPE TFT01_24_8 (I tested it with the others but just get a white screen so not that).
Gone through the static trick and leaving it a day as well but sadly still no luck.
Any other suggestions? I can still use it hooked up to a pc but that's by no means an ideal solution

Cant test pen widths
Hi all!
Built a polargraph using an Arduino Uno R3 copy, ULN2003 drivers connected to 28byj-48 stepper motors using the latest firmware and controller compiled on Processing. My machine is 700mm x 600mm, the drawing surface is 550mm x 430mm using two sheets of what I think is long legal paper lying around. It works with moving the pen to points, I fixed the mm per rev because I am using 1 inch water bottle tops and fishing line for the spool and line. The machine can draw spirals since I previously uploaded code to the board not from the controller to make spirals. The motors move in the right directions.
However, whenever I try to run a pen test in any increments, using various grid sizes, the queue just spits back to me "You probably won't get any detail from this". I tried running images through the controller as well, with the same error message appearing in the first few lines and nothing being drawn. What settings should I put to at least get a successful pen test?

Hi - thanks for your detailed description, really helpful.
The warning that the machine sends back is just a warning, it _will_ still attempt to draw the pixel, so it doesn't indicate that the command has been ignored or cancelled.
If the problem is that the pen isn't moving at all during width tests AND "render pixels", then I'd guess that it's not homed, or the motors aren't powered. You do still need to "set home" before you do any movements, to set the position, and to energise the motor coils (lock them). I've never used the ULN2003 drivers, so I don't know how they get energised.
You say that the machine works with moving the pen to points - you mean using the current firmware, you can do a "set home", followed by a series of "move pen to point" and "move direct" and it'll go there? That's a good sign.
Ignoring the fact that the width test doesn't move the pen at all, the way to "fix" the problem of having no detail is to increase the grid size and decrease the pen size. There's a page about it on the wiki that might be useful:
